Netflix Deploys First Server in West Africa / Nigeria

For those of us who don’t know, Netflix is the world’s leading internet television service with headquarters in California, United States.

News just reaching me now is that Netflix has deployed it’s first server in West Africa and just like Mark Zuckerberg’s choice of first West African country to visit, the server is situated in Nigeria and this feat was achieved in collaboration with one of Nigeria’s leading broadband service providers, Spectranet.

What does this mean for Nigerians/West Africans? Well, a closer server to you means faster everything; faster access, faster video load time etc.
